Are you looking for a quick and professional way to retouch skin in Photoshop? While there are many methods out there, the Surface Blur technique is one of the most effective and easiest ways to achieve smooth skin while preserving important facial features.

In this guide, we’ll break down the steps from PIXEL MALAYALI's latest tutorial on how to get that perfect "magazine-look" skin in minutes.

Step 1: Prepare Your Layer

First, open your image in Photoshop.

Duplicate the Layer: Press Ctrl + J to create a copy of your background layer [00:06].
Convert to Smart Object: Right-click the new layer and select "Convert to Smart Object." This allows you to go back and adjust your filters later if needed [00:14].

Step 2: Applying Surface Blur

This is where the magic happens. Unlike Gaussian Blur, Surface Blur preserves edges while smoothing out the flat areas of the skin.
